Judith E. Swick

Judith E. Swick, 82, of rural Burket, Indiana passed surrounded by her family at 9:25 am, Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023 at her residence. Judy was born on June 17, 1940 in Warsaw, Indiana to the late Victor and H. Ellen (Graves) Cook. She married on Dec. 22, 1962 in Burket, Ind. to Frank L. Swick, he survives. Judy was a 1958 graduate of Warsaw High School. She further her education at Huntington University graduating in 1962 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She later attained her Master’s Degree from Saint Francis University. She then taught for Beaver Dam, Akron, Talma, Ivy Tech, and Tippecanoe Valley. She also worked as an Operator and in Human Resources for United Telephone. She was a member of the Speakers Bureau, the Burket United Methodist Church, the Winona Lake Free Methodist Church, and in earlier years, the Tuesday Dramatics Club. She enjoyed being a sports mom and grandma. As long as she was able, she was there to cheer on her family. She loved theater and drama, and enjoyed attending plays at the Wagon Wheel. She is survived by her husband Frank Swick of Burket; children Annette Swick of Burket, Derrill and wife Paula Swick of San Antonio, Texas; Ginger and husband Joe Bishop of Indianapolis, and Pepper and husband Robert Bell of Ft. Wayne; grandchildren Jordan and wife Kaycee, Cody, Samuel, Matt, Alexander, Tyler, and Colton; great grandchildren Peyton and Paxton; and a sister Karolyn and husband Eddie Barrus of Leesburg. Judy was preceded in death by her parents Victor and Ellen Cook, sisters, Marolyn, Frances, Jeanne, Donna, and Phyllis, and brothers John, Joe, Bob, and Norman. The memorial service will take place at 6:00 pm, Monday, Jan. 30, 2023 at King Memorial Home 101 North Tucker Street Mentone, Indiana. Memorial visitation will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm, Monday, Jan. 30 , 2023 at King Memorial Home, Mentone, Indiana. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Seward Township/ Burket Volunteer Fire Department.
