Jackie S. Cumberland, 53, of Akron, Indiana passed at 12:40 pm, Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center of Ft. Wayne, Indiana after being in failing health for a year. She was born on May 11, 1962 in Warsaw, Ind. to Ronald E. and Dixie S. (Krebs) Secrist. She was married on Nov. 9, 1980 in Mentone, Indiana at the Mentone United Methodist Church to Greg A. Cumberland, he survives. She had worked at Tippecanoe Valley School for 21 years. She enjoyed being a SWOOP Reading instructor for the last nine years at Akron Elementary School. Memberships: She was a 1980 graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School where she swam and was a Vikette. She was a member of the Mentone United Methodist Church. Jackie enjoyed going with her husband to Tin Caps games, baking cakes, shopping, especially on black Friday, as well as spending time with her family.
