Jack R. Rudd Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jack R. Rudd, 64, rural Rochester, passed away 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at his residence after being in failing health since last October He was born on Dec. 12., 1949, in Salyersville, Ky., the son of Hurndon and Finettie (Craft) Rudd. In June 1972, he married Monica "Susie" (Barnett) Rudd. She preceded in death in 1983. He then married Vickie (Voorhees) Rudd, who survives. Jack went to Akron High School. Jack served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He was a heavy equipment operator Gradex, Inc. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Eagles Lodge, all of Rochester. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, his favorite driver was Ricky Rudd and most recently Dale Jr. If he was watching TV, it was a western and his favorite actors were John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. He also liked camping and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Vickie Rudd, Rochester; daughter Tesha and husband Russell Pettit, Middlebury; two sons, Ryan and wife Melissa Rudd, Odessa, Texas, and Jeremy and wife Kristy Rudd, Bluffton; four stepchildren; 11 grandchildren; 17 stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; four sisters, Marcella and husband Keith Boyd, Rochester, Karen Clark, Rochester, Kathy and husband Ron Moore, Rochester, and Debbie and husband Daryl Powell, Rochester; two brothers, David and wife Linda Rudd, Rochester, and Bernard and wife Katie Rudd, Denver; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hurndon and Finettie Rudd, wife Monica "Susie" Rudd in 1983, sister Daisey, brother Bob Rudd and brother-in-law Russell Clark. His funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Rev. Amber Karkosky-Litten officiating. Visitation is Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial is at Hoover Cemetery, Athens, where military graveside rites will be performed by the Fulton County Honor Guard Memorial contributions may be made to Riley Children's Hospital.
